Cleaning properly is worth the effort

Ever increasing purity requirements and the trend toward miniaturization make the purity of components a functionally important quality feature and value-added factor.

The cleaning of electronic components is a key process step in the production of electronics today. A high-purity surface is especially important for assemblies that will be coated or wire bonded in subsequent processes. In addition, a reproducible cleaning process is indispensable at the latest when cleaning highly sensitive substrates or hybrids. Consequently, factronix GmbH is expanding its product portfolio together with PBT Works for efficient assembly cleaning in combination with high-performance process analysis. One example is the PBT HyperSwash, a new, fully automatic cleaning system designed specifically for fast and efficient cleaning for medium and large quantities of assemblies, DCBs, hybrids and templates. Here, the direct linear spray technology is in the foreground. Drying is variably programmable (max. 110° C) and takes place via a hot-air knife. Since flexibility and adaptation to ever new production parameters are becoming more and more important, spray arms, that can be changed quickly, are available. As a result, users can respond easily and cost-effectively to new chamber configurations.

In addition to this flexibility, process analysis is increasingly at the top of the list in functional specifications. The requirements of the electronics manufacturers for bath monitoring and process traceability are constantly increasing. Measuring and recording cleaning parameters are mandatory today. An optimal and reproducible cleaning process contributes significantly to the efficiency of production, since this manufacturing step contributes to the quality and function and waste is minimized. For this reason, all PBT cleaning systems can log and trace the complete process chain. In combination with the Kyzen Analyst or the Zestron Eye, this automatically checks, records and adjusts the chemical concentrations.

To provide the greatest possible flexibility, these cleaning systems are not compulsorily bound to one chemical manufacturer. However, the selection of cleaning agents should be made or supported by experts. Cleaning trials can be implemented in our wash centers in Germany and the Czech Republic, in short term and have also proven success in actual practice.

"Efficient cleaning is based on many factors and requires a lot of practical know-how in addition to the right technology, especially with frequent product changes in electronics production."
